I was born in a small city near Los Angeles, but I have no recollection of ever living there. My father relocated for work to Houston, Texas, when I was around the age of 2. Growing up the youngest of four children, I became a follower rather than a leader, and following was a way of living that managed to stick with me for much of my life.
